Final report on the course of the professional gardening fair Green World 20009
The 10th anniversary of The Gardening fair Green World was held on the premises of The Brno Fairgrounds on the 4th and 5th of September 2009. Even this year The Gardening Fair has met the expectations and the exhibitors’ participation, the size of the exhibition space and even number of visitors increased since last year.
Following the tradition the opening ceremony took place on the 1st day of the exhibition – on Friday at 9:45, in the presence of Vlastimil Pasic, president of The Gardening Exhibition Association (AZV), Ing. Jaroslav Hunkes, vice-president of Gardening Exhibition Association (AZV) and the representatives of organizations under the auspices of which the Fair was held. Namely: Jana Simeckova, director of The Union for Greenery Planting and Maintenance, Ing. Jiri Horak, chairman of The Association of Florists and Ing. Jiri Veleba, chairman of The Czech Nursery Garden Union. Gardening and Floristics magazines from Profi Press s.r.o. Publishing become the media partners.
93 exhibitors from seven European countries (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Austria and Holland) took part on 1.860 sq meters (larger exhibition area than last year by 270sq.meters) this year.
Due to the rising demands of exhibitors on the exhibition area the accompanying programme was moved to 1st gallery (total area of 500 sq. meters). Friday’s programme was dedicated to floristics. Petr Kopac and Jan Komzak, leading Czech florists, showed their mastery in floral art as the first ones. They presented new trends in wedding flowers to the public and then they showed that even flowers may serve as a fashion accessory.
The second part of floral programme was the long expected floral-fashion show Floral Fashion Week, named by Ing. Marie Bittnerova, organizer of the whole floral programme. Renowned fashion designer Iveta Radkova from Brno presented her own wonderful eccentric models, with floral creations made by a famous Slovak florist Robert Bartolen. The whole show, held twice in the afternoon programme, was a success with both professionals and the lay public. The joining of beautiful dresses and floral accessories proved to be an amazing spectacle.
Saturday’s part of the accompanying program included lectures led by Ing. Jana Simeckova, the director of the Union for Greenery Planting and Maintenance (SZUZ). Bio ecological swimming pools were introduced by Ing. Jiri Hajek, a chairman of The Section of Bio Pools, Decorative and Bathing Garden Ponds of SZUZ. Ing. Jitka Dostalova from Optigreen gave the lecture about green roofs. The Director of SZUZ herself introduced the “Park and Garden of the Year” contest to the publci and she presented 22 companies seeking the title. She also drew closer attention to the competition for young gardeners in the world and the Czech Republic.
The lectures for plant growers were given by representatives of companies supplying the young plants – Ing. Vladimir Ilencik (Bruno Nebelung) and Ing. Jan Drtil (Syntega Czech s.r.o.) who told us what news they would bring following season.
This year of Green World had a total of 2023 registered visitors, almost 90 percent of whom were professionals. Even this number shows that Green World as the only meeting of gardening professionals in the Czech Republic already has its firm place in the bconscious of the gardening world, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in other European countries.

Come to celebrate your anniversary with us!
Dear ladies, gentlemen, gardeners, nurserymen, cultivators, florists, decorators, architects, builders, businessmen, farmers, landscapers and all of you who look for a meeting place for horticultural specialists, let us invite you to the 10th anniversary of GREEN WORLD 2009, the biggest international contractual trade fair in the Czech Republic.
Looking back at the 1st annual event, held in September 2000 on the premises of 400-sq-metre unnamed garden company, we remember nostalgically those endless expectations that felt during the time of preparation: „…which garden company would present itself at the trade fair, how many professionals will visit it and what it should all look like.“ Ten years ago we intended to create a self-contained gardening fair that would be independent of other exhibition organizations. Even though there had been discussion about the need for such a fair, it was not unanimously supported by specialists.
Today we can claim that every effort put in to AZV existence and also to gardening fair Green world, has paid off and we can see that its results are more significant and important every year. Thanks to you, exhibitors. The annual rise in the number of exhibitors convinces us of specialists’ great interest and increasing foreign trade. Bordless Europe enables us to act freely and it is just up to us whether we take advantage of the freedom to strive for private or professional fulfilment and success.
GREEN WORLD fair makes the Czech trademark of the Czech nurseryman, fruit-grower, florist, architect or businessman visible. Today it also means presentation of companies from European Union member countries.
Accept our invitation to GREEN WORLD 2009 to come to exhibit, to teach, to show off, to influence and to spoil horticultural and floral customers.
Let’s celebrate our anniversary together.
